The Kushiro Marsh Onnenai Visitor Center, located on the western edge of the Kushiro Marsh, is the hub for communication, gathering information, and exploring the wetlands. If you use this as the base for exploring the wetlands, you can take the barrier-free boardwalk that extends about 2 kilometers into the wetlands, and which leads to the Kushiro Wetland Observatory.
The boardwalk is very popular among visitors for its convenience, and offering close-up views of the fauna and seasonal flora that inhabit the wetlands. If you come between July and August, you may be lucky enough to see Heikebotaru (fireflies). Cross-country skiing is possible during the winter months.
