An active volcano, “Meakandake,” where you can enjoy the colorful puddles.

“Meakandake” is a mountain with Onneto, one of the Hokkaido’s Three Great Secret Lakes, at its foot. It is an active volcano that has been introduced to the One Hundred Mountains of Japan and is still active. To see the summit’s view, it takes about 3.3km from the trailhead of Nonaka Onsen, and it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
There is a rare puddle on this summit, and the first puddle you see at the summit is the yellow and muddy “Akanuma crater.” Next, near the signboard on the summit, you can see the emerald green puddle like Lake Onneto, “Old Crater Aonuma.”

There are no trees in the mountains, but you can feel the earth’s activity from the steam and gas that blows out. You can also see Lake Onneto from above while climbing
