Furaoi Kyusen, a river lake of the Teshio River located in Teshio Town, is one of the first places in this area to melt ice.
It is a place where waterfowl such as white-fronted geese, common sandpipers, and swans rest their wings while waiting for the ice to melt.
In the Sarobetsu wilderness, which stretches across the Teshio River from Horonobe to Abundant Town on the right bank, many migratory birds relax in the meadow during the day.
