[Capturing the Rivers of Hokkaido!]
Old Tomiuchi Line Running along the Married Couple River

The Tomiuchi Line was extended from Mukawa Town to Hidaka Town in 1964.
Until it was discontinued in 1986, the line ran along the scenery of the Mukawa River, which was called “Onna-gawa” (a married couple’s river), and the Saru River, which was called “Otoko-gawa” (a man’s river).
Today, Tomiuchi Station is preserved along the Mukawa River at Tomiuchi, Hobetsu, Mukawa Town.
There is a railroad memorial museum in Furenai, Biratori Town.
