The 31st Shiribetsu River Clean-Up Campaign

On Saturday, June 21, the 31st Shiribetsu River Clean-Up Campaign was held with the aim of protecting the natural environment of the clear-flowing Shiribetsu River.
Participants gathered at Ranran Park in Rankoshi Town, where they split into two groups: a land-based team and a canoe team. With approximately 400 participants, this year marked the second-largest turnout in the event’s history.
To everyone who took part—thank you very much, and well done!
This initiative also received the Excellence Award at last year’s Kawatabi Hokkaido Awards.

Greeting from the Mayor of Rankoshi Town.
Remarkably, the mayor is wearing the Kawatabi T-shirt, a supplementary prize from the Kawatabi Hokkaido Awards. The photo on the right shows the mayor from behind. Thank you, Mr. Mayor!

The land-based team in action.

Another scene from the land-based team.
Even young children helped out—impressive!

The canoe team setting off.
Mt. Yotei can be seen in the background. Oh—if you look closely, someone is standing in the river. That area must be shallow.

At the river mouth.
The rock formation known as the “Reclining Dragon Head” can be seen.

A large amount of trash was collected again this year.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts.

Great job, everyone! Thank you for your hard work.
