Kochia at Yuni Garden
(Yuni Town)

(Photo taken on October 13, 2025)

Once again this year, I visited Yuni Garden to see the kochia. I went on October 13 and was able to enjoy many kochia bushes at their peak, glowing in a vivid red. Known in Japanese as hokigusa (broom grass), kochia is a charming plant with a distinctive round shape.

◎Opening hours: May to November 3, 10:00–16:00
Admission fee required

Many visitors were enjoying the garden.

View from the Kochia Hill observation area.

Salvia flowers were also in bloom.

Dogs are allowed in the garden, and many visitors came with their pets.

Perhaps Japanese pampas grass—very atmospheric and autumn-like.

These appear to be orange cosmos. They were blooming further inside the garden.

I bought “Autumn Kochia Ohagi” as a souvenir—sweet rice cakes inspired by the red autumn kochia.
They also sell a green kochia–themed version with zunda (sweet edamame) flavor.
