The Mikasa City Museum displays numerous ammonites and the nationally designated Natural Monument Ezomikasaryu (Ezo Mikasa Dragon), among other exhibits. The lives of Mikasa’s people during its prosperity as a coal mining town are also on display. Nearby are the former Ponbetsu Coal Mine vertical shaft tower and Ikushunbetsu Bridge, a pedestrian bridge spanning the Ikushunbetsu River. This bridge has three names: Concrete Bridge, Kawamuko Bridge, and Ikushunbetsu Bridge. During the heyday of the coal industry, people would cross this bridge on their way to work.
