“Chipsanke,” which means “launching a boat” in the Ainu language, is a launching ceremony to imbue a boat—crafted using techniques passed down since ancient times—with a spirit.
Biratori Town holds this event annually in late August as a traditional festival to deepen understanding of Ainu culture.
