Early in the morning, while watching red-crowned cranes along the Setsuri River that runs through the village, I saw a long-tailed tit moving about in the riverside forest.
At the Tsurui Ito Sanctuary, there were manna cranes , which are a size smaller than red-crowned cranes.
At the Tsurumidai feeding ground, there were two sandhill cranes, much smaller than the red-crowned cranes, and both cranes were comfortable with the red-crowned cranes without being chased away.
