On 20 August 2024, an event called ‘Toyohira River Adventure’ was held on the Toyohira River, organised by the Tyuoh Primary School Community Relations Council, with the participation of about 30 teachers, pupils and parents from the school.

The aim of this event was to allow children who normally have no experience of playing in the river to experience first-hand the Toyohira River, which is close at hand, and to increase their interest in nature and science by looking for river creatures such as Japanese dace and Japanese fluvial sculpin, and by actually entering the river to experience the flow of the water.

The children’s serious gazes and smiling faces are impressive. Some of the parents seemed to be having more fun than their children.
