The Nibutani Dam constructed in the upper reaches of the Saru River is a multipurpose dam completed in 1998. The area around the dam is dotted with museums and historical archives where visitors can have contact with the Ainu history. At the Nibutani Dam Family Land on the east side of Lake Nibutani, camping and outdoor sports, such as tennis and park golf, can be enjoyed.
