Pirika Dam

Pirika Dam was constructed in the upper reaches of the Shiribeshi-Toshibetsu Shiribeshitoshibetsu River known for its clear stream and was completed in 1991. Pirika is said to mean “good,” “beautiful” or “fine” in the Ainu language. In the area around the dam, there are Pirika, Imakane, Tanekawa and other hot spring baths and camping and rafting can be enjoyed.
