[Rivers and dams in Hokkaido]
Satsunaigawa Dam

The dam was constructed in the upper reaches of the Satsunai River, which is a tributary of the Tokachi River, and was completed in 1997. The dam lake was named Tokachi Ryutan (dragon pool) Lake because of the resemblance of its shape to a dragon when seen from above. The Satsunai-gawa Enchi campsite downstream of the dam has the Pyotan no Taki Falls, which is a scenic spot where splashing water falls from a height of 10 m, as well as an obstacle course, tennis, park golf and other leisure facilities.
