“Coral Grass” Colony in Ubaranai, Abashiri City

It is called “coral grass” because it turns red in autumn and looks like coral. Its real name is “Akkeshi-so,” which comes from the fact that it was discovered in Akkeshi Town.
The Okhotsk cycling road from Abashiri to Tokoro passes by the Ubaronai Park. September is the peak season when the coral grass turns red. The weather becomes cooler, making it the best season for cycling.
