I arrived at the mouth of the Mukawa River at 6:30 in the morning, where the temperature was minus 18 degrees Celsius. The sky was turning red, but the sun had not yet risen, and the Mukawa River was flowing quietly blue into the Pacific Ocean.
When the sun rose just after 7:00, the scene changed completely. The river mist was illuminated red as it flowed toward the sea, and the ice-covered stones and broken ice were also illuminated red.
