When I visited Taisetsu Dam on the upper reaches of the Ishikari River early in the morning, there was no wind, and the lake was as smooth as a mirror, reflecting Mount Otofuke and Mount Uni-Ishikari—still covered in snow—creating a scene brimming with the spirit of spring.
