Asahikawa is known as the “City of Rivers,” Every summer, it hosts some waterside events that attract many people.
Let’s Learn from the River
On Saturday, July 6, 2019, “Let’s Learn from the River” (organized by Asahikawa kodomo no mizube kyogikai) was held at the left bank area downstream Asahi Bridge on the Ishikari River. The purpose of the event was to let people know about the natural environment, including the water quality, how to prepare for heavy rains and flooding, and to observe the flowers, insects, and fish that live here. The rafting boat ride for children only was particularly popular.
Ishikari River Festival Mizumatsuri
This event was held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at a special site on the Kita-Asahikawa Bridge.
This is a daytime festival that the whole family can enjoy, with activities such as cherry trout fishing, bingo, flea markets, and geo tours.
Mizbe de kanpai & Mizbe no ongakusai -Mizbering Asahikawa-
On Sunday, July 7, 2019, the “Mizbe de kanpai & Mizbe no ongakusai” was held outside the west side of the south exit of JR Asahikawa Station (on the Chubetsu River side).
