At the mouth of the Ishikari River, the Ishikari Lighthouse welcomes visitors.When the Ishikari Lighthouse was built in 1892, the Ishikari River met the Sea of Japan about 200 meters away. Due to sediment accumulation and other factors, the river mouth has since extended by about 1,200 meters, making the lighthouse appear as if it has been watching over the Ishikari River ever since.
