A Visit to the Teshio River Shijimi Clam Festival

I visited the Teshio River Shijimi Clam Festival, held over two days on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13. The venue, Teshio River Riverside Park, has been developed as part of the Teshio River Kawamachi-zukuri (riverfront revitalization project) and offers beautiful views of the Teshio River, the Sea of Japan, and, on clear days, Mount Rishiri (Rishiri Fuji). The festival was lively and crowded with many visitors.

On Sunday, July 13, panels introducing basin-wide flood management and the Teshio District Kawamachi-zukuri project were displayed. Visitors could also enjoy a VR experience of the Teshio River and explore 3D models of aquatic life living in the river through a stereoscopic display, making the event both fun and educational.
