As part of the activities for River Protection Month in July, river nature observation programs were held at Horonuka Waterside School: on July 9 (Wed) with 3rd- and 4th-grade students from Chōsei Elementary School, and on July 16 (Wed) with 4th-grade students from Midorigaoka Elementary School.
On the day, participants examined the water quality of the Rumoi River using water testing kits and transparency tubes, and learned about the river environment by catching and observing aquatic organisms.
It was impressive to see how much the students enjoyed interacting with the living creatures. We hope that through hands-on experiences such as catching aquatic organisms, the students gained greater interest in the species living in the Rumoi River and the surrounding environment.
