I visited the lower Ishikari River area to check on the autumn foliage conditions. Overall, the leaves are reaching their best viewing period. I hope this will be helpful as a reference for a weekend drive.
The photo above was taken on October 15 and shows Lake Shikotsu and the Sansen Railway Bridge (Chitose River).

The area was very crowded with visitors.

October 11 – Jozankei Dam (Otarunai River, Toyohira River system)
Perhaps because it was a Saturday, this area was also visited by many people.
【Yubari River】
October 15 – View of “Chidori Falls” from Chidori Bridge in Takinoue Park (Yubari River)
Although it was a weekday, many people were visiting, and food stalls were open. Chidori Bridge was closed partway across, making it impossible to cross to the opposite bank (left bank). Bears?
October 15 – View downstream from Chidori Bridge in Takinoue Park (Yubari River)
The downstream “Taki no Tsuribashi” suspension bridge was also closed and could not be crossed.
【Lake Shikotsu】
October 15 – View of Mt. Eniwa from the Lake Shikotsu Observatory
Trees in front of the observatory have been removed, improving the view.
October 15 – Lake Shikotsu Lakeside Walking Trail
Unfortunately, strong winds that day caused all lake activities and boats to be suspended.
