On Sunday, July 27, a cycling event titled “Mukawa–Saru River Cycling Course Ride with Kawatabi × Hidaka Scenic Byway” was held, organized by the Hidaka Cycling Association.
In previous years, the event focused on a single river—the Saru River in 2022 and the Mukawa River in 2023. Following last year’s format, the 2025 event once again featured a loop course connecting both the Mukawa and Saru rivers. The route started at Tanpopo Park in Mukawa Town and finished at Roadside Station Mukawa Shiki-no-Yakata.
We have edited a video of the event—please enjoy watching it.
Despite the light rain, around 40 cyclists rode the approximately 53 km course, experiencing the unique charm of both the Mukawa and Saru Rivers, which are affectionately known as the “Married Rivers” due to their close connection.
