“Kawami 2026” is currently being held on the riverbank near Horohira Bridge along the Toyohira River, which flows through downtown Sapporo.

I went on the first day, so here’s my report on the event. This event runs through Sunday, August 30, 2026, so please be sure to stop by.

It was dusk when I arrived at the venue. Viewing the river at twilight has its own charm.

Here’s a map of the venue. There were 10 food stalls and 8 food trucks set up.

There were already lots of people in attendance on the very first day.

These are barbecue areas where you can enjoy a “hands-free” BBQ. Last year they were set up under the bridge, but this year it looks like you’ll be able to enjoy grilled meat while looking out at the Toyohira River.

This is a large inflatable play structure. You can enjoy it for free every day during the event.

As it got dark, Horohira Bridge was lit up in a magical blue color. It’s illuminated every day during the event.

The weather was nice again today. Lots of people visited the venue, and it looked cool in the river.

The “KAWAMI” monument is really nice.

Playing in the river like this will surely be a great memory for the kids.
