With the aim of keeping the Chitose River beautiful forever, a river cleanup is held about twice a year under the sponsorship of “General Incorporated Association Kanoa” in Lake Shikotsu, the headwaters of the Chitose River.
This activity aims to be a “citizen participation & business collaboration” field activity, in which citizens, local businesses, and government cooperate with each other.

In the third year of this spring activity, canoes, kayaks, and rubber boats were used to clean up the section of river that runs next to Aoba Park.
